Anatomy of the Black Murex
Reinterpretation of the Black Murex is a drawing-based exploration that abstracts and reimagines the shell’s natural form, texture, and character. Rather than rendering the shell with strict anatomical accuracy, this study deconstructs its spiraling geometry, layered ridges, and jagged surfaces to uncover the underlying logic of its growth and resilience.
Through a series of analytical and expressive drawings, the work examines the Black Murex as both a biological specimen and a source of architectural inspiration—translating its complex textures and asymmetries into new formal languages. The result is a visual investigation into how natural systems can inform design thinking, inviting viewers to engage with the shell not only as an object, but as a structure with expressive potential.
